Shooting accurately with Jack Ryan

Shooting is one of the many ways to score points in a basketball game. I have always believed that with deadly accuracy, a shooter would pose more of a threat than any other type of basketball players since shooting does not require much body contact to begin with.

I managed to find an article in SLAM ONLINE with 2 videos of Jack Ryan giving some tips on how to shoot better. I have even extracted these videos out and uploaded them onto YouTube as I do not know how long the videos would remain available in SLAM ONLINE.





I hope these videos would be of great help to my basketball friends. :)

Grand DotA Allstars Tournament 2008 post-mortem

As I have mentioned in the Out of Topic section, my team was eliminated early in the tournament. If you really must ask, my definition of early would be 1st round. :P

A total of 24 teams took part in this tournament with 1 team failed to show up (Inc-xtc). At the same time, the organiser sent 5 teams with 1 of them ending up as the champion (InG`Do).

Assuming that all of the 19 teams (minus the 5 home teams) paid the required RM100 to join the tournament, the organiser has managed to pool an amount of RM1,900. Since the champion belonged to 1 of the home teams, the organiser would just have to pay the prize money for the 1st Runner-up (RM1,000) and 2nd Runner-up (RM500) positions. Without taking into calculation the cost of the trophy and profit lost due to the cybercafes (2 cybercafes were utilised for the tournament) closure, at the end of the day the organiser would still be raking in RM400. Not bad, eh?

Now, the replays have just been uploaded last night. I did not bother to check out the other teams' replays as I do not have all the time in the world. Heck, even analysing my team's replay have taken me almost 4 hours with a minimum of 5 times replaying the whole match over and over again.

I have uploaded my team's replay and you can download it from my university's server. Meanwhile, you can also download the other replays from the Lowyat.NET forum. Do keep in mind that all these replays require WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne version 1.21.

Frankly speaking, I do not hold any grudge against any of my teammates for the early exit. Silencer clearly could not gain much levels due to Centaur Warchief repeatedly luring the Sentinel creeps into the forest during the early stage of the match.

At the end of the day, I find it pretty pointless for me to list all the things up there as most of my readers do not play DotA Allstars. I guess even seasoned players would not even bother to read too. Oh well, since I have written so much of them, I might as well just post it up instead of deleting the whole entry. :P

Grand DotA Allstars Tournament 2008

Not even a week after returning to my cubicle, I found out that I have been enlisted to join my fellow colleagues in a DotA tournament. I find it funny how a week earlier I was still in a hospital bed grimacing in pain and agony.

The registration fee for this tournament is RM100 and my team is lucky enough to secure a hefty sum of 50% sponsorship from our bosses. It is certainly flattering to have the support and backing of the higher-ups in the office.

To be frank, I do not see my team going very far in this tournament as this is our very 1st maiden participation in a public DotA tournament. Heck, even most of the players in my team are public players... including ME!

From what I have read in the forum, a lot of cybercafes are sending their teams to the tournament. I have even read some rumours claiming that team KingSurf (currently the #1 DotA team in Malaysia) is participating as well WTF?!

The tournament roster has yet to be posted online at the moment. Next update would be after the tournament ends my team is eliminated.

Laparoscopic Varicocelectomy

In case you were wondering, that is the name of the surgery I had last week. You can get a brief description about it here.

I have just returned from the hospital again for post-surgery check. Even though there still exist some minor discomforts here and there, Dr. Leong assured me that everything is going well.

For the record, I have now in my body a few surgical clips. Dr. Leong said there are more than 2 of them but I guess he has actually forgotten the exact number he placed in my body. Nevertheless, I am pleased to know that they are safe for future MRI scans.

My hospitalisation leave is coming to an end. I did not even bother to request for any extension as...

• I love my job too much!
• there are still 8 months to go and anything can happen anytime therefore I do not want to waste anymore leave.
• I am too shy to ask for more.
• I need to move around more to compensate for the lack of exercise.

Last but not least, I shall be consuming less meat from next week onwards. It is not fair for my girlfriend to suffer for something that actually occurred to me so I shall shoulder a part of her divine promise.
